Fast Movin' Train

(Mark Fosson)
I had a dream last night.
Sat me bolt upright.
Tried to hold on to it so
I shut my eyes real tight.
It blew out like a flame,
like a match lit in the rain.
Faded like a whistle on a
fast movin' train.

I stand out by the track
as the memory train
rolls by.
Waiting for a old familiar
face to catch my eye.
Then I smile and
wave my hand as it
leans into the bend.
Cutting through the darkness
on the way to
way back when
like a fast movin' train.

And the engine burns on
every bad mistake I
ever made.
The wheels roll over
every track of every
plan I've laid.
And it leaves a trail of
smoke and dust that
settles in my brain.
Carloads of memories
on a fast movin' train.
